The Harper Anthology

“Forever” – published poem

Sanity is gone from the world,
logic is a thing of the past.
Intelligence is a rare thing,
having fun is a blast.
It may sound really weird
or terribly bad,
but it’s just an easier setting,
the world is now an emotion to be had.
Because nothing lasts forever,
everything is change.
We won’t always be together,
there’s a wide range.
As clueless as before,
we walk through everyday.
All of time behind us,
taking the future way.
Although time can end whenever,
you never know how long.
Who knows what to live for
until your time is gone?
“Child’s Play” – published poem

The wonderful sounds of the children at play
while you’re stuck inside as if a rainy day.
All having enough fun that makes them shout,
as you have your chores and look about.
You wish you could just do whatever you please,
Everyone else is always at ease.
Going to school all of you,
Once together among the dew.
At recess and lunch there is much fun,
but for you there is homework to be done.
Back at home they all play for a break,
yet more food and beds for you to make.
Late at night you hear them all,
loving each other and having a ball.
You are in early and down to bed.
You are so different and crying in your head.
The day for you is done again,
And morning comes before tomorrow begins.
Waking up early for more and more chores,
You’re still waiting until your life is yours.
I wrote two poems that were entered into contests with the International Library of Poetry. Both were chosen to be published.
